###########################################
IMPORTANT INFORMATION (EXISTING USERS ONLY)
###########################################

Changes we are making.

GRAM consists of two sets of files

1. Program Files
2. User Data Files

We are changing the location the Data Files are held.

Why Change?

Microsoft formally recommends that all files that are written to by an application be placed in COMMON_APP_DATA directory ("C:\ProgramData" on Vista and up). We are changing your install location to conform to Microsoft's formal recommendations to store your data in (COMMON_APP_DATA) directory, as this may become a hard requirement in the future.

Where are my Data Files currently located?

v3.1.04 and below:

Both Program and Data Files are installed to: (default install)
C:\Program Files (x86)\On Safe Lines QHSE Software\General Risk Assessment Management

Note: Default installation Windows XP is will probably be:
C:\Program Files\On Safe Lines QHSE Software\General Risk Assessment Management (i.e. no (x86) in URL)

Where is the new location?

From v3.2+:

Program Files are installed to (as before):
C:\Program Files (x86)\On Safe Lines QHSE Software\General Risk Assessment Management

Data Files are installed to:
C:\ProgramData\On Safe Lines QHSE Software (new location)

The changes involve your two data containing files.

1.GRAM_be.accdb: Data Container
2.Dictionary.accdb: User dictionary

After installing v3.2 the program will automatically be linked to the two new (and empty) data containing files in the C:\ProgramData\On Safe Lines QHSE Software directory.

You now have two choices:

Firstly, always make backups as appropriate (it just makes sense)

1. Copy your existing (populated) data files to the new C:\ProgramData\On Safe Lines QHSE Software directory over writing the empty files (recommended option).

2. Use the built in relinking file to re-connect to your existing files. From within GRAM, go to the 'Maintenance Option' menu tab and select 'Relink Data Tables' from the available options. Now, from the drop-down URL field select the location of your existing data files and hit the green re-connect button. Carefully read the displayed message to confirm re-linking was successful. You also have the option of adding your own URL should your Data Files be located other than the default installation directory (downside of this option is you will need to do this each time we issue new updates).

Our sister website www.risk-assessments.org switches our website to secure https protocol ‪#‎riskassessment‬

 Advantages Of HTTPS

The major benefit of encrypting connections to and from our website is that they data cannot be read by any middle man. It will no longer be possible to read data flowing between our customers and our webpages from the air. But, a number of other benefits come along with https connections (SSL).

Identity Verification

A certificate guarantees the information a browser is receiving originates our website. It is a guarantee that when a customer sends sensitive data, it is being sent to the right place, and not to a hi-jacked.

Data Integrity

With http it’s possible for a third-party to sit between the server and the browser and read everything. HTTPS connections make this sort of middle man attack much more difficult to pull off.

Trust

The green padlock indicates that we take security seriously and helps give our customers confidence and thus futher build on our good reputation.
